A Summary of the Foundational Christian Truths Taught at HLCA

  • We teach that the Bible has something to say about every subject. Therefore Bible is not just another subject that we teach; the truths of Scripture are taught as they relate to the other subjects as well. “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable or teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • We teach that God is the creator of all things and that He is in control of all things. “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:16-17)
  • We teach that though God is a spirit, He is also a very real person, who is concerned with all aspects of our lives. “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your care upon Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7)
  • We teach that God is holy; that He hates sin but that He also loves people, all of whom are sinners. God cannot look at or approve of sin, which makes it impossible for anyone to get to heaven by his own good works. God has made only one way to get to heaven and that way is through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus, who is God, came to earth as a man and is perfect – absolutely sinless. Jesus chose to die and shed His blood for the sins of all people in order to make it possible for mankind to be reconciled to God. God accepted His Son’s payment for our sin and raised Jesus from the dead. Anyone who accepts His payment for their sins can have their sins washed away and be assured that they will go to heaven when they die. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” (John 3:16-17) “For Christ also died for sins one for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18)
  • We teach that since God is holy, He expects those who have trusted in Him to look and act in a way that is in keeping with His nature. “Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.” (1 John 2:15-16)
  • At HLCA, we have set high standards to stimulate and challenge our students mentally, morally and spiritually. We desire our students to grow in grace and in knowledge not just to please themselves, their parents or teachers but to please God. “Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
